Jerusalem is known for its history, its culture, its sport and its amazing culinary scene. It’s now time to add craft beer.
As the city continues to undergo a cultural renaissance and in an increasing move to attract more urban tourists and niche visitors, Jerusalem is now home to a great beer pub, known as Beer Bazaar. The Beer Bazaar, is an affiliate of the Tel Aviv Beer Bazaar in Shuk Hacarmel, highlighting a unique Jerusalem flavor to make it distinct within the franchise of Beer Bazaars.
New to the Jerusalem Machne Yehuda Market, the Beer Bazaar is quaint in size but packs a tremendous punch in its offering of over 100 Israeli craft beers. What’s even cooler than centralizing all of the Israel craft beers, is the custom designed beer taps that offer visitors 11 choices. The beers offered on tap are changed regularly, ensuring that no beer never goes stale.
Not a beer drinker?
Beer Bazaar also offers something for the non-beer drinker.
Buster’s Apple Cider and Nitro-Coffee are always available in the Jerusalem beer pub.
What is Nitro-Coffee? It’s a trendy carbonated caffeinated drink infused with nitrogen, which makes it incredibly smooth and hides a significant punch of caffeine.
During the day, the hustling Jerusalem market (aka the shuk) is known for its diversity of food, drinks and lower-cost items that are always on sale. Somehow, the Beer Bazaar has successfully managed to offer visitors and food enthusiasts a place to rest and enjoy a beer without being overwhelmed by the noise. The small pub is perfect for that afternoon drink.
While the Jerusalem Beer Bazaar is opened for lunch, it’s the night time when the place turns into a real trendy place. The vendors in the day shutdown, making room for the pub to really own the space and transform the shuk into a real European pub scene.
In an effort to support the local market and tap into the fresh food of the shuk, the Beer Bazaar has partnered with many of the local stores to produce quality foods that enhance the flavor profile of the entire restaurant. From the custom made breads, to the addictive popcorn that’s made next door, the Beer Bazaar in Jerusalem is clearly working with the locals to highlight its unique Jerusalem location.
Pro tip: Come to the Jerusalem Beer Bazaar on Thursday or Saturday nights to experience the staff performance.
The Beer Bazaar itself is small in size but with limited seating, visitors can easily engage with impressively knowledgeable bartenders and the passionate chef, who simply are smiling at all times of the day. Every week, the bartenders are quick to create a weekly 6 pack, carefully selecting a unique mix of Israeli craft brews.
Personalizing the Beer
With over 100 types of Israeli beers available, it’s a challenge to ensure that every customer enjoys their experience. At the Beer Bazaar, they’ve tapped into this opportunity and really make the beer match the person. From the bartenders knowledge of the beer scene which help them focus their efforts on identifying the right choice for each person. The other option is by offering a great beer sampler or beer flight. In either case, the Beer Bazaar encourages the customer to taste before they buy.
After the beer, the menu at Jerusalem’s Beer Bazaar is equally impressive. Typical beer pub food, simple in style but packed with delicious flavor, while maintaining the freshness that only a pub located in the shuk can highlight.
Salads, sandwhiches, hot dogs, and chopped liver. They all are presented in a rustic style, but Chef Chaim clearly makes each dish with love.
The popcorn is insanely good and needs to be consumed carefully to save room for the delicious food.
Without going into the details of each dish, the chopped liver, chili that is perfectly balanced, and the pastrami sandwich are on par with many of the top delis from abroad. To read more about the actual food of this Jerusalem gem, visit The Culture Trip’s review of Beer Bazaar.
The prices at Jerusalem Beer Bazaar are affordable and match the shuk scene. Good quality without breaking the bank. It’s rare to find a unique restaurant in Jerusalem that serves many great dishes, friendly service at reasonable prices. Tourists, locals and visitors will clearly enjoy the Beer Bazaar.
